Richard W. “Rich” Hutchison, 70, of Chicora passed away Sunday morning at Sugarcreek Rest in Worthington under the care of Amedisys Hospice with his loving wife and daughter at his side.

Rich was born in Bruin on Dec. 14, 1941. He was the son of William “Red” and H. Alma Hile Hutchison.

He was a Protestant. Rich was a U.S. Army veteran and also had served in the National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, lawn work, tinkering and fixing things.

He had been employed by Pullman Standard in Butler. Following his employment at Pullman, Rich was a self-employed carpenter for a number of years. He was also employed by Pry Towing in Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Stoops Hutchison, who he married in Fairview on April 24, 1971. Also surviving is a daughter, Shannon L. Detrie and her husband, Lee F., of High Point, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brenden T. and Caitlyn M. Detrie, both of High Point; a brother, David A. Hutchison and his wife, Edna, of Karns City; two sisters, G. Pearl Ritzert and her husband, Vince, of Chicora and H. Patricia “Pat” Stingle and her husband, Dave, of Indianapolis; as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kevin M. Hutchison, who died on May 27, 2008; a brother, J. Edward Hutchison; a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Klingensmith; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Joan Stoops Peschel.

HUTCHISON — Friends of Richard W. “Rich” Hutchison, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Hillwig, pastor of the East Brady Baptist Church, and the Rev. Pete Sapp, pastor of the Trinity Reformed Church, Bradys Bend, Rich's nephews, co-officiating.
