Cranberry Township Farmers Market to begin accepting SNAP benefits
The Cranberry Township Farmers Market, 2525 Rochester Road, will begin accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits Friday, July 7, according to the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber of Commerce.
This program is backed by the federal government, which helps low income individuals buy food.
The farmers market has also partnered with the Food Assistance Match Program, which is a nonprofit whose goal is to increase access to fresh and healthy food for low income individuals and families who are on food assistance programs.
Food Assistance Match allows recipients to receive more products with SNAP funds through a 1-to-1 match.
A ribbon cutting to kick off the program will take place when the farmers market opens at 3 p.m. Friday outside the Cranberry Township Municipal Center.
