Eugene A. Rapone

Eugene A. Rapone, 87, of Butler passed away Sunday at VA Butler Healthcare.

Born on Aug. 23, 1927, in Butler, he was a son of the late Anthony and Antoinette Zaccari Rapone.

He was employed by Pullman Standard where he worked as a maintenance welder for 27 years until its closing.

He was a member of the Butler Cubs, the SOI, the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was on the USS San Clemente AG-79 in the South Pacific. He was in the China (CBI) Burma and India campaigns.

Surviving are his daughter, Marsha Rapone of Butler; his two sons, Anthony (Debbie) Rapone of California and Eugene (Amy) Rapone of Mississippi; his seven grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his brother, Nicholas (Judy) Rapone of New Castle; and his numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Maxine Kish, his longtime lady friend from Natrona Heights.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Prokopchak Rapone, who passed away on June 11, 1998.
