PROSPECT — An SUV struck the side of Prospect Corner Store after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning, July 17, and employees said this isn’t the first time the store has been hit.

The crash, reported around 8:45 a.m., left a small hole in a brick wall on the outside of the building, located at 400 W. Main St.

Libby Kline, a store employee, said she arrived at work after the crash and only had to pick up a few items knocked from the shelves behind the counter. Otherwise, there was no visible damage inside.

The vehicle struck a wall located behind the register that displays cigarette products inside the store, which was closed at the time.

“This is not the first time, and it won’t be the last,” Kline said of the crash.

State trooper Jessica Mosura said the crash occurred when a West Penn Power truck and a black Nissan Rogue collided at the intersection of Main and Franklin streets.

According to Mosura, the West Penn Power truck was traveling west on Main Street approaching the intersection with Franklin Street. A black Nissan Rogue was traveling north on Franklin Street.

She said the driver of the Nissan reported being unable to stop, traveling through the parking lot and into the right side of the store.

Mosura said both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage, but no one was injured.

Prospect-Franklin Township, Portersville-Muddy Creek Township volunteer fire departments and Butler Ambulance Service also responded to the incident.

According to Kline, the storefront had to be remodeled after a car struck it in 2021.
