Warden Joe DeMore’s resignation becomes official
The county prison board Tuesday, July 18, officially accepted the resignation of Warden Joe DeMore, who has already started his new job in Florida.
Board members accepted the resignation, which was effective July 14.
DeMore, who was hired as the warden in 2015, is now the director of corrections for Volusia County in Florida.
Interviews with seven people who applied to replace DeMore are scheduled for next week, said County Sheriff Mike Slupe, prison board chairman.
He said Beau Sneddon, deputy warden for operations, has been named acting warden.
DeMore, a graduate of Slippery Rock University, worked as deputy warden of operations at the Allegheny County Jail before he was hired to replace Rick Shaffer as warden of the Butler County prison after Shaffer’s retirement.
