One of 14 former Jehovah’s Witnesses members from Pennsylvania charged with child sexual assault-related crimes has pleaded guilty.

Jesse Hill, formerly of Berks County, pleaded guilty in Berks County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday to two counts of rape. Hill was charged with the sexual assault of two minors he met through the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the 1990s.

According to the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, it came out during the investigation that Hill lured young boys from the Jehovah’s Witness to his property by taking advantage of both his milling business and his position in the religious community. Once they came to his house, Hill would force them to perform sex acts.

Among the other former Jehovah’s Witnesses members who have recently been charged with crimes against children are three Butler County residents: Shaun Sheffer of Harmony; Kevin Isovitsch, of West Sunbury; and Eric Eleam, of Butler Township. Eleam died by suicide in October 2022.
