Pittsburgh man arrested in Cranberry Township after trying to solicit sex from agents posing as teen, police say
A Pittsburgh man was arrested Friday, July 21 in Cranberry Township after having explicit conversations with agents who were posing as a 14-year-old girl, police said.
Yuksel Tasdemir, 29, was arrested and charged with felonies unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility after police said he asked to engage in sexual activity with someone he believed was 14 years old.
Police said he was apprehended in Cranberry Township by agents of the Pittsburgh FBI office on Friday after agreeing to meet at the decoy’s “home.” During their communication with Tasdemir, agents had assumed the identity of a 14-year-old girl who lived in Cranberry Township, police said.
Agents reported to township police that they had been in communication with Tasdemir through various social media platforms since July 18.
Tasdemir asked to meet and engage in sexual activities with the decoy Friday, saying that she would “not get pregnant,” according to charging documents, which were filed Friday.
His preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin Flaherty is scheduled Aug. 4.
Tasdemir was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail.
