Knoch to hold combined Open House, Back to School event
Although the mercury may tell a different story, summer for Butler County’s schoolchildren is nearly over.
Knoch School District will ring in the 2023-24 school year with a combined Welcome Back to School/Open House event on Aug. 22.
Last year, these were held as two separate events, which included the official renaming of the school district from South Butler to Knoch. This year, district leadership opted to combine the two events.
“They’re going to combine the atmosphere we had last year with the naming, along with the open houses,” Knoch school board member Deb Miller said after this month’s board meeting July 10. “[They’re going to] try to make it a little more positive. It’s a challenge to get parents sometimes to come to things, so if you can get them excited to come to one, maybe they’ll go to the other.”
“This event aims to foster a sense of community and to provide an opportunity for students and families to connect with their teachers, explore the school premises, and engage in enjoyable activities,” the district said in a news release.
Open House events will take place at each of the schools in the district, while the Welcome Back event will be held at Knoch Stadium.
At the open houses, parents have the opportunity to go to their child’s school and introduce themselves to their teachers.
During the Welcome Back event, multiple school-affiliated groups will set up food tents on the track at the stadium to raise money for extracurricular activities.
To control the flow of traffic, there will be two separate time slots for elementary and secondary (high school) families at the open house. The elementary open house will take place from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by the secondary from 6 to 8 p.m.
