Shirley A. Zanicky
Shirley A. Zanicky, 79, of Butler died Tuesday morning at her home.
Born Sept. 16, 1931, in Stockton, Calif., she was a daughter of the late George and Matilda (Michael) Rishwain.
She had worked as a welder for the Pullman Standard Car Co. in Butler for 30 years until the plant closed.
Shirley was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora, was devoted to the Blessed Mother and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Surviving are her husband, Peter Zanicky, who she married Aug. 5, 1950; her children and their spouses, Peter A. Zanicky, Stephen G. and Kathy Zanicky, Mary E. and Mark Leitem, Joyce A. and John Brough and John T. and Roxanne Zanicky, all of Butler; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Rishwain of California; and four sisters, Ethel Miller, Jeannie Willis, Rita Visger and Theresa Larranoga, all of California.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
<B>Zanicky</B> —<B> </B>Friends of Shirley A. Zanicky, who died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Michael the Archangel Greek Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Douglas Lorance, pastor, will officiate.
