National Guard Armory in Connoquenessing Township could house 2 polling places
CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Voters in the township will still go to the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory to vote come the November election, but they may go to a different section of the building than their neighbors.
Connoquenessing Township supervisors chairman Terry Steinheiser said at a meeting Wednesday, Aug. 2, that the Butler County Elections Bureau now plans to split the space at the armory in half.
“One section will be for part of the township and the other section for the other,” Steinheiser said. “The election will still be held at the armory.”
The supervisors also approved an ordinance regulating solar and wind equipment in the township. The Large-Scale Solar Electric Facility and Wind Energy Facility Ordinance gives the supervisors the ability to enact terms for people wanting to install equipment harnessing solar or wind power.
Township solicitor Andrew Menchyk said the ordinance will help the supervisors get ahead of any requests to install solar or wind equipment in the township’s borders, and they can always amend the language of the ordinance later.
“This would provide some ability to regulate solar farms and wind farms that come into the township,” Menchyk said. “Time is of the essence in getting in getting something on the books here so with applications being submitted to the township it would be wise to move forward with enacting this tonight.”
