Juanita Miller, 87, of Chicora, formerly of Meridian, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 26, 1927, in Harrison Township to the late Kenneth M. Stilwagon and Mildred J. (Fair) Stilwagon. After the death of her mother, the major portion of her life, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, William H. and Lina Fair.

Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1944, and she studied secretarial correspondence courses.

She worked as a church administrator and administrative assistant to the senior pastor at the North Main Street Church of God for 31 years, retiring in 1994.

Mrs. Miller was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church in Butler, where she had served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and had taught Sunday school for over 25 years. She had been a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother and a former member of the Woman’s Club of Meridian and Butler Soroptomist.

Mrs. Miller is survived by one daughter, Juanita Brady and her husband, James, of Butler; three grandchildren, Heather Salata and her husband, Edward, of New Castle, Matthew Miller and his wife, Mary, of New Castle and Holly Tannehill and her husband, Jake, of Severn, Md.; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Lauren Salata, Ella Salata, Garrett Tannehill and Juliet Tannehill; one sister, Carole L. Stollenwerk of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Miller, who she married April 22, 1949, and who passed away Feb. 5, 1996; one son, Douglas J. Miller; her stepfather, Joseph Stollenwerk; and one brother, James Stollenwerk.

MILLER — Friends of Juanita Miller, who died Saturday, May 2, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John's Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Road, Butler, with the Rev. Gordon Powell officiating.
