Donald Albert Sr.
Donald L. Albert Sr., 71, of Boyers Road, Harrisville, died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Grove City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 24, 1935, in Franklin Township, he was the son of Lewis A. and Daisy A. Shontz Albert.
His family moved to the Harrisville area when he was a child.
He attended Grove City area schools, and he served in the 28th Infantry Division of the Army from December 1954 to 1956. He was a lineman stationed in Germany.
He continued to serve in the Army Reserve until January 1963.
Mr. Albert worked for Cooper-Bessemer of Grove City, Ferguson Builders, the B & D Coal Co., Pengrove Mining, and he retired as an equipment operator for Adobe Mining in 1992.
He enjoyed RV camping, snowmobiling, and was a charter member of the Harrisville Snow Seekers Snowmobile Club. He was also a member of the Harrisville American Legion Post 852. He enjoyed auctions, flea markets, collecting die-cast tractors, and sitting on his porch to watch animals.
He was a Protestant.
He married Doris A. Lyons on July 9, 1955, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two daughters, Dona Albert Armstrong of Oakdale and Tina Albert of Harrisville; two sons, Thomas Albert and his companion, Michelle McCollums, of Butler, and Donald L. Albert Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Harrisville; three grandchildren, Dorrina Armstrong of Butler, Aaron Armstrong of Oakdale, and Carli Albert, who lived with him; three brothers and their wives, George "Ike"and Eileen Albert of Grove City, Charles "Boob" and Shirley Albert of West Liberty, and E. Ronald "Barney" and Cheryl Albert of Harrisville; a sister and her husband, Delores "Dolly" and William West of Greenville, and an aunt, Carolyn Gass of Chicago.
A special family friend, Penny Snyder; five step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and many cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law.

Albert Sr., who died Thursday, March 1, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 N. Main St. Harrisville. The Rev. Gary A. Warinner of the Bell Memorial Church will officiate.Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
