Vehicle pursuit terminated in city
Butler City police said Thursday, Aug. 10, they are no longer pursuing a vehicle within city limits.
The pursuit started around 9:10 a.m., according to Lt. Anthony Fatta, but has since been terminated.
“There is no public risk,” he said. “We’re not releasing any more information as the investigation is ongoing.”
Dispatchers said at 9:40 a.m. that no one was injured as a result of the pursuit, but that traffic incidents were reported.
Frank Aiello, who was driving on Main Street, said his car was sideswiped early in the pursuit.
After paying a visit to the United States Postal Service at 345 South Main Street, Aiello said he traveled north to the intersection of Main and West Cunningham Streets.
As he turned right onto West Cunningham Street, his Chevrolet Trax was hit on the driver’s side.
“I heard sirens,” he said. “The car came flying down (Main Street).”
Aiello was uninjured, but his driver’s side mirror was knocked from his vehicle.
“I asked police officers after, ‘Did you catch the son-of-a-gun?’ They said they couldn’t speed after him on (Main Street),” Aiello said.
“I was kinda nervous, if I had gotten out of the car, I would’ve been killed.”
