Central Electric asks for power conservation today
Central Electric Cooperative is asking customers to conserve energy and avoid peak energy costs today from 1 to 7 p.m. by turning off nonessential electrical items and raising thermostats a few degrees.
Shift the use of items such as dehumidifiers, pool pumps, and electric appliances to hours outside of the peak period because small adjustments in when, where, and how electricity is used makes a difference in energy costs during high-demand periods, the cooperative said.
Decreasing electricity used during high-demand periods can help stabilize future power costs for all members, the cooperative said.
