Walter R. Dunkle
Walter R. Dunkle, 86, of Bredin Street died Wednesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Butler, a son of the late Samuel H. and Irene McBride Dunkle.
Walter retired in 1983 from the melt shop at Butler Armco, where he worked for 36 years.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post 249 in Butler and American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.
Mr. Dunkle was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
His wife, Irene M. Benko, whom he married May 18, 1957, survives him. Also surviving are his brother, William Dunkle of Centerville, Md.; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Emily Benko of Butler. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
A sister and three brothers preceded him in death.

Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Abbot Leo Schlosser, pastor of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, officiating.
