Wilbur E. Stewart
Wilbur E. Stewart, 76, a longtime St. Petersburg, Clarion County, resident and former borough council president, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening at Golden Living in Clarion with his loving family at his side.
Wilbur was born Nov. 2, 1939, in West Freedom. He was the son of the late Kenneth B. and Ruth Hodil Stewart.
Wilbur was a 1957 graduate of Parker High School. He was a longtime member of St. Petersburg United Methodist Church and had been a member of the former Odd Fellows Lodge in Parker. Wilbur served several terms as a St. Petersburg borough councilman and was council president for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting, working and tinkering in his garage and being outdoors. Wilbur most especially enjoyed doting on his granddaughter.
He retired in 2008 from Advantage Tank Lines, where he had been employed as a truck driver and a dispatcher.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Sandra M. Hasenflu Stewart, who he married June 26, 1965, at United Methodist Church in Parker. Also surviving are two sons, Justin A. Stewart and his wife, Kristin M., of Pittsburgh and Tim W. Blair of Erie; one granddaughter, Scarlett Victoria Stewart; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Stewart of Erie; one sister, Arlene Pennington of Bruin; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by one infant brother; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Ada Hasenflu.
STEWART — Friends of Wilbur E. Stewart, who died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hile Funeral Home, 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg.A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Petersburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Brink, church pastor, and the Rev. Dan Myers, a retired Methodist pastor, officiating.
