Matt Otto looked out the window Monday morning, Aug. 28, from his job at Pittsburgh Plug & Products, 101 Third St. in Evans City to see a bear in the parking lot.

“I looked out the window and said, ‘Oh, there is a bear outside,’” said Otto, who is also a volunteer with the Evans City Volunteer Fire Department. “I was just strolling through the parking lot, it wasn’t really doing anything.”

Otto said the area where he saw the bear wasn’t particularly wooded either, which made the sighting even more peculiar.

The black bear made its rounds through the borough over the weekend, with Dina Caruso seeing it Sunday.

“It was just walking by the woods,” said Steve Bicehouse, Caruso’s husband.
