Mary Thomas

Thomas

Mary Louise Vodev Thomas, 92, of Setauket, N.Y., formerly of Uniontown and Butler, died peacefully Dec. 14 with her loving family at her side.

She was the loving and dedicated wife of the late Rhys Thomas.

Ms. Thomas was an RN who for many years worked at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, the Faulk Clinic at UPMC and the Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, N.Y.

Kind, generous and widely read, she will be remembered for her intellect, her unbeatable bridge game, as a fabulous self-taught baker and an active participant in her community.

Ms. Thomas devoted herself to volunteer work at many institutions including Uniontown Hospital, where she served as president of the auxiliary, the Butler Medical Center, the American Red Cross and her church, St. Andrew's Presbyterian in Butler. She also served on the Board of the Butler Women's Club.

The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Throughout her long life, she shared a lot of hospitality and laughter with her friends and family, who she cherished.

She is survived by her three daughters, Genie Schwartz of West Haven, Conn., Hazel Robinson and her husband, Don, of Setauket, N.Y., and Michelle Vodev of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Lisa, Adam and Scott; two great-grandsons, Graham and Griffin; two sisters, Helen and Sister Anne Therese; and numerous extended family members and friends.
