Nicholas L. Bilowich
Nicholas L. "Nick" Bilowich, 91, of Butler died Monday evening at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Dec. 15, 1917, in Lyndora, he was a son of the late Leon and Julia (Balyk) Bilowich.
He had worked at the Pullman Standard Car Co. for 29 years, until his retirement in 1982. Prior to that, he had worked for the Betres Trucking Co. and also at the shell shop during World War II.
He was a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora.
One of his favorite pastimes was feeding birds while working in his garden and also attending a weekly game of pinochle with his buddies. He also enjoyed small game and deer hunting, being outside getting a tan and going to the mall and socializing with his old friends.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Eva M. (Mudrick) Bilowich; his beloved daughter, Julie Ann Raisley of Butler; his cherished granddaughter, Amy; a sister, Mary Longhitano of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John; a half-brother, Martin; and his beloved son-in-law, Ken Raisley.
<B>Bilowich </B>—<B> </B>There will be no visitation. Funeral services for Nicholas L. "Nick" Bilowich, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, will held at 10 a.m. Friday at the SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 21 Evergreen Road, Lyndora. The Rev. Paisius McGrath, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SS.
