Marianne Rudiak

Marianne Rudiak, 96, of Miami, Fla., passed away Friday at Baptist Hospital in Florida.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1917, in Butler, to the late Michael and Mary (Sopp) Ligas.

She was the wife of the late Mitchell Rudiak, who passed away on Feb. 1, 1985.

Marianne was lead singer in the “Rudy’s Brothers Band,” and lead soprano in the choir at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. She and her husband, Mitch, were proprietors of Rudy’s Bar in Lyndora for 50 years. Marianne was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her two daughters, Michele (Gary) Hebert of Miami, Fla., with whom she lived, and Maureen (Sydney) Aguiton; her son, David (Barbara) Rudiak; her three grandchildren, Dana (Josh) Berro, Andrew (Aurelie) Rudiak and Joel Aguiton; and her five great-grandchildren, Jack, Benjamin, Lucie Lu, Valentino and Lenny. Also surviving are her sister, Helen Meaders; her sister-in-law, Marcia Ligas; her nieces, Alysia, Bonnie, Pam, Caroline, Marcie, Annie and Mary; and her nephews, Deacon Michael (Cindy), Larry, Michael (Robin) and Kenn.

Marianne was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Shuber, and her brothers, John, Nicholas, Richard and George Ligas.

Rudiak— The friends of Marianne Rudiak, who passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.Parastas services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
