Helen Galida
Helen Galida, 89, of Highfield died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 17, 1922, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Anna (Dano) Sychak.
She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
Mrs. Galida was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake. She also liked to sew, read and watch cooking shows.
She was the widow of Michael Galida. They were married May 24, 1952, and he died Jan. 18, 2001.
Surviving are her children, Sharon Galida of Highfield, George and Cheryl Galida of Fort Collins, Colo., Valerie Sopel of Butler and Christine Galida of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Michael J. Galida of Fort Collins, Colo., and Leon Sopel, Luke Sopel and Emily Sopel, all of Butler; a brother, Peter and Martha Sychak of Lyndora; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
<B>GALIDA</B> — Friends of Helen Galida, who died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, will be received Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m., at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. A funeral liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev.
