A 46-year-old Butler man died at a plant in Middlesex Township on Tuesday, Sept. 5, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

The cause of death was traumatic asphyxiation, said Deputy Coroner John Hanovick.

Emergency responders were called to Vorteq Coil Finishers, 125 McFann Road, at 3:30 p.m. for reports of a man trapped in a coil. According to an emergency dispatch report, police at the scene requested the coroner shortly after arriving.

The company works with steel and aluminum coils, according to its website.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
