Donald K. Greger, of Saxonburg, passed away on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023.

Born in Ellwood City on July 31, 1934, he was the son of Frederick and Louise (Konnerth) Greger.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and attended Thiel and Geneva colleges. He was an Army veteran having served in the 3rd Armored Division from 1955 to 1957. He worked for U.S. Steel as an accountant for over 30 years and was a union representative and president of Local 7693. After retiring from U.S. Steel, he worked for various auto dealerships as a salesman and manager.

During the 1970s, he was an executive adviser for Junior Achievement. He was a well-known and accomplished drummer in many dance bands in the 1960s as well as a drum instructor for marching groups. He was a fan of all sports and enjoyed reading, golfing, traveling and dancing. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Butler.

His is survived by his wife, Martha “Marti” (Anderson) Greger, whom he married June 6, 1959. Also surviving are his children, Don Greger and his wife Cindy, Shari Greger (formerly McGrew) and her special friend Ron Smith, and Lisa Fiore and her husband Pat; eight grandchildren, Malia (Greger) Edwards, Don Jr. and Justin Greger, Alex and Shannon McGrew and Kristen, Ryan and Anthony Fiore; one sister, Virginia Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

GREGER — Friends of Donald K. Greger, who died Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
