Lloyd W. Rettig Sr., 84, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

He was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Summit Township, the son of the late Norman and Leona (Schnur) Rettig.

Lloyd retired in 1990 after 48 years with the Hot Dog Shop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of the Butler Moose and a lifetime member of VFW Post 249.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Roskovski) Rettig, who he married on Aug. 31, 1945; a daughter, Paula D. (Gordon) Wheeler of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; three sons, Lloyd “Bill” (Debbie) Rettig Jr. of West Virginia, Terry (Corrine) Rettig of Florida and Mark R. (Terri) Rettig of Clarkston, Mich.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Hackett of Butler; and two brothers, Norm (Nan) Rettig of Florida and Richard (Catherine) Rettig of Connecticut.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean (Rettig) Cumpston, and his brother, Wayne Rettig.

<B>RETTIG</B> — Friends of Lloyd W. Rettig Sr., who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, will be received at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday. The service follows at noon with the Rev.
