John H. Campbell, 88, of Penn Township died peacefully Sunday at his home surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 18, 1922, in Aspinwall, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Etta May (Dickey) Campbell.

He was the beloved husband of the late Anne F. (Krosel) Campbell, who he married June 20, 1942, and who died May 29, 2000. Also preceding him in death were three brothers and one sister.

He was the loving father of David J. (Carol) Campbell of Winfield Township, Cecelia J. (Morris) Aimino of Penn Township and Sheila J. (Harold) Graham of Mars. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A World War II Army veteran, he served in the Pacific theater.

John was a retired quality control manager for the Blaw-Knox Steel Co.

He was a longtime and devoted parishioner of the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member of parish council and men's club, gave hay rides to children during the annual bazaar and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10175.

John and his wife, Anne, loved to square dance, and they were longtime members of the Keystone Square Dancers.

He also was a member of the C.I.O. United Steel Workers, the Penn Township Veteran's Association and the Lyndora American Legion, and he was treasurer of the Henderson Cemetery Association.

Campbell, who died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, will welcome friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, Glade Mills, with Father Albert Semler as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in the Assumption Cemetery of St. Mary Church, Glenshaw.The family suggests donations to the Holy Sepulcher Church Building Fund, 1304 E.
