Richard 'Rocky' Rock

Richard A. "Rocky" Rock, 70, of Arlington Avenue died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Butler, a son of the late George H. and Mary Betty Rock.

Mr. Rock was a 1956 graduate of Butler High School.

Rocky was a proud veteran of the Marines and was a member of the American Legion Post 778.

He also was a member of the St. Michael Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora, the Slovak Club and the Highfield Community Center.

He retired as a rigger at Butler Armco in 1998 after 39 years.

Rocky was a hunter and fisherman and greatly enjoyed gardening, going to casinos and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved socializing with his friends every Monday at Buddy Nicks.

His wife, Lois Maxine Welch Rock, who he married Sept. 28, 1963, survives him. Also surviving are his son and his wife, Richard J. and Jennifer Rock of Tempe, Ariz.; two daughters, Ronda Meenahan and her husband David of Elkridge, Md., and Karen Hamlyn of Sewell, N.J.; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Tony Onufer of Butler; two brothers, Robert G. Rock and George L. Rock and his wife, Shirley Rock, all of Butler; and three grandchildren, Alexandra Hamlyn, Zachary Meenahan and Elena Rock. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

<B>ROCK </B>— Friends of Richard A. "Rocky" Rock, who died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas Lorance, pastor of St. Michael Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lyndora, officiating. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.The American Legion and the VFW Ceremonial Squad will accord military graveside honors.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
