A. Robert Furka, 74, of Lyndora passed away Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born in Lyndora on Dec. 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Demiter and Katherine Jancosko Furka.

He was retired from Butler Armco, where he was a maintenance supervisor. He retired March 31, 1997, after 47 years.

He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the First Catholic Slovak Union, the Slovak Catholic Sokol and the First Catholic Slovak Jednota Association.

He is survived by one sister, Helen A. Furka of Lyndora; two brothers, Anthony J. Furka and his wife, Barb, of Kansas City, Mo., and Aloysius Furka, of Steubenville, Ohio; his loving companion of 31 years, Patricia Marie Straynick of Butler; three sisters-in-law, Marie Furka of Butler, Betty Jane Furka of Butler and Arlene J. Furka of Baden; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Steve Furka, Joseph Furka and William Furka.

<B>FURKA </B>— Friends of A. Robert Furka, who died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.Members of the St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at the church at 9:35 a.m. Saturday to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
