Helen J. Medwid

Helen J. Medwid, 91, of Highfield died Saturday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Butler, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine Dickey Medwid.

Helen worked as a seamstress at Bobbie Brooks in Butler until her retirement. As a young lady, she worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory in Butler.

She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora and was a member of the Ladies Guild at her church. She also volunteered at her church for more than 60 years.

Surviving is her sister, Mrs. Rose Olexsak of Butler. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

A brother and three sisters preceded her in death.

<B>MEDWID</B> — Friends of Helen J. Medwid, who died Saturday, May 9, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora with the Rev. Paisius McGrath, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.Parastas services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
