Peter Novak Sr., 80, of Butler died at 1:57 p.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born June 13, 1924, in Lyndora, he was the son of John and Sophia Hobliak Novak.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from the B&O Railroad as a mechanic.

Surviving are a son, Peter Novak Jr. of Butler; a brother, Steve Novak of Maryland; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan McCurdy Novak, who died May 25, 1997.
