Helen Stanko
Helen Stanko, 85, formerly of the Townhouse Apartments in Butler died Good Friday at Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 23, 1920, in Lyndora, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Pavik Soley.
She was a homemaker and a mother.
Mrs. Stanko was an active bowler and golfer in the Butler area for many years and was a member of the Armco Country Club.
She also loved to play bridge and enjoyed traveling and especially visiting her family.
Mrs. Stanko was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
She is survived by three sons, J. Richard Stanko of Omaha, Neb., Michael Stanko of Bedford, Texas, and Dr. Ronald Stanko of Granbury, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Ann Varhola of Kittanning; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Doptis, Patrick, Zachary and Dana Stanko, Daria Perrozi, Nichole and Daniel Stanko; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Doptis, Sam Perozzi and Isabella Perozzi; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stanko, who died April 28, 1993, and whom she married May 11, 1941.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Andrew and Steve Soley and a sister, Mary Vinovich.
<B>STANKO</B> - Friends of Helen Stanko, who died Friday, March 25, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Services will be held at noon Tuesday from St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, with Dennis Bogda, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler at Butler County Memorial Park.Parastas Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday from the funeral home.
