Jennifer Amerson

Amerson

Jennifer Lynn Amerson, 43, of Butler, passed away peacefully under hospice care at Butler Health System on Friday evening, Sept. 15, 2023, with her dad softly singing songs about Jesus and heaven.

Born in Butler, on Sept. 11, 1980, she was the daughter of Tim and Melinda (Smith) Amerson.

Jen graduated from Butler High School in 1998, after attending schools in the Quaker Valley School District. She was employed for a number of years by the Friedman’s Supermarket chain, where she made a lot of friends in the Pennsylvania Lottery line. She recently was a technician in the pharmacy at Clearview Giant Eagle, where customers were always glad when she would answer their phone call.

Being a 9/11 baby, she was always aware of the “9-1-1 curse.” On her 21st birthday, the Twin Towers fell. Twenty-two years later, she found herself in the emergency department of the hospital where she was born.

There was joy in her life. She gave birth to Madison Rose just two days after her own 30th birthday. From that day on, she made her home in Westwood Manor 3 with her dad and loving stepmom, Sheri. She was a “country girl” who enjoyed deer hunting, country music and the woods. She was a friend to all animals, especially dogs and cats.

Jen wasn’t afraid to share her opinions. “That’s a terrible color for a pickup truck, they have too many Christmas lights for such a small front yard, I wish they would pick up the dead deer along Mercer Road, I don’t like pizza from any place but Papa John’s, they screwed up our order again at the drive-thru, some guy in line at work asked me for my phone number — I think he’s like 15 years older than me, I asked the girl to take about 2 inches off my hair and I think she took 5!”

During her treatment for colon cancer at Hillman Cancer Center, Crossroads Campus, she appreciated the care and the conversations with all the wonderful nurses and assistants. (She adored Henrietta!) They are a special group of caregivers!

Jen leaves behind a whole bunch of weepy, loving people, especially her daughter, Madison; her mother, Melinda, of Beaver Falls; her Dad, Tim and mom, Sheri. Her brothers, Greg (Melissa) Amerson of Laurens, N.Y., Brady (Evy) Amerson of Boardman, Ohio, and Taylor (Rachel) Amerson of Butler. Three darling nieces, Stella, Piper and Vienna; and four awesome nephews, Brecker, Thatcher, Jackson and Denver. Uncle Steve and Aunt Lucy, Uncle Dan and Aunt Sue. Cousins, Emily (Nick) Sutton, Katie (Simon) Neubert, Austin (Tianna) Amerson, Amanda Buse, Delanie and Destinee Amerson and many, many more.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted and Roseann Smith of Evans City, Steve and Sara Amerson of Meridian, and Paul and Kathleen Hutchison of Butler.

She will be missed and remembered.
