Betty Hazlet

Betty Lou Hazlet, 85, of West Sunbury passed away unexpectedly at 6:25 a.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Betty was born July 17, 1929, in Hooker. She was the daughter of the late Harold Eugene Wright and the late Grace A. Steinheiser Wright.

Betty had been a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church for more than 73 years and served as an elder and deacon at the church. She also was a volunteer with the Moniteau Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels.

Betty retired from Mellon Bank with more than 14 years of service as a teller.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Nancy) Wick of West Sunbury; two sons, William David “Dave” (Wendy) Hazlet III of West Sunbury and Carney Hazlet of West Sunbury; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William D. “Bill” Hazlet, who passed away Sept. 22, 2014.

HAZLET — The family of Betty Lou Hazlet, who died Monday, May 4, 2015, will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Concord Presbyterian Church.Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Robert V.
