Patricia “Patty” Marie Lapa Straub
Patricia “Patty” Marie Lapa Straub, 68, a lifelong Slippery Rock resident, passed away Monday at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh following an extended illness.
She was born March 10, 1949, in Grove City, to James Vincent Lapa and Inez Frasca Lapa.
She married James Lee Straub on June 27, 1992, and he survives at home.
Patty retired from Slippery Rock University where she worked in academic records. She also had sold real estate and was a marketing representative for ACORN. She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock. She and her husband, Jim, had spent several winters in Arizona.
In addition to her husband, Patty is survived by her brother, Frank Lewis Lapa of Grove City; her niece, Lisa Marie Terlinden of Harrisville; her extended cousins located in Italy and Philadelphia; and extended family from Butler County, Pittsburgh and the Greensburg area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her nephew, Anthony Joseph Lapa; and two half brothers, Chester “Chet” and Dominic “Mickey” Lapa.
STRAUB — Family of Patricia “Patty” Marie Lapa Straub, who died Monday, May 8, 2017, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Robert Seeman presiding. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
