Robert Williams Moore Sr., 91, of Butler passed away quietly in his sleep surrounded by his family at 4:11 a.m. Wednesday at Concordia at Rebecca Residence.
Born in Butler, Nov. 18, 1916, he was the son of the late Matthew James Moore and Annetta Williams Moore.
He was a graduate of Butler High School and a veteran of the Army, serving in Europe as a captain during World War II.
Mr. Moore was a jeweler and owned and operated Milo Williams Jewelers until his retirement.
He was a member of Covenant United Presbyterian Church, Syria Shrine Temple, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Kiwanis Club of Butler, Butler Country Club, American Gem Society, Pennsylvania Retail Jewelers Association and was a past president of the Downtown Butler Businessmen's Association.
In 1972 he served as president of the Western Pennsylvania Guild of the American Gem Society. He also served on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Retail Jewelers Association and in 1979 was voted jeweler of the year.
His interests included playing golf, spending time with his family and serving his community.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR races with his son and grandsons and being involved in his grandchildren's sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Wasson Moore, who he married April 10, 1943; one son, Robert Williams Moore Jr. of Butler; two daughters, Pam Patterson of Butler and Cheri Hays of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Jessica Hays of Pittsburgh, Cole Patterson of Butler and Ryan Patterson and his wife, Kristin, of Tappahannock, Va.; four nieces; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Moore; three sisters, Ruth Mixer, Altha Campbell, and Elsie Moore; and one nephew, Tom Mixer.

James Swanson of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church officiating.
