Patricia Redmond

Patricia May Barron Redmond, 86, formerly of Slippery Rock, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at the Grove Manor Nursing Center, Grove City.

Born in Slippery Rock, Aug. 11, 1924, she was the daughter of John Hockenberry Barron and Mabel Grace Coyer Barron.

She married Gaylord Earl Redmond on March 25, 1943; and he died Oct. 2, 2004.

She became a licensed practical nurse in 1970 and a registered nurse in 1975 following her graduation from Butler County Community College. She worked as a nurse for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler, now known as the VA Butler Healthcare, and retired in 1986.

Mrs. Redmond was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Harlansburg.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and crocheting.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda and her husband, Regis Snyder, of Slippery Rock, Gayla Weaver of Kilgore, Texas, and Pat and her husband, Bill Strobel, of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a brother, John Barron and his wife, Beverly, of Slippery Rock. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Joanne Griffis, Michael and Keith Weaver and Ronnelle Harris; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Lee; two brothers, Robert Isaac and Paul Edward; and a sister Esther Jean West.

<B>REDMOND </B>— Services for Patricia May Barron Redmond, who died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, will be at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Thursday. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
