Virginia Bauder

Bauder

Virginia Bauder, of Portersville, peacefully departed this world on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, in Pittsburgh, where she was surrounded by her beloved husband of 56 years, Richard, and her cherished daughters and sons-in-law.

She was a cornerstone and matriarch in the Portersville community, profoundly impacting countless lives with her character, humor, selflessness and dedication. Her absence will be deeply felt, but we take solace in knowing she is now with her Lord, a destination she eagerly anticipated throughout her life.

Born Virginia Kennedy on Dec. 27, 1943, in Zelienople, daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Gray Kennedy. She was affectionately referred to as the “Christmas Gift they couldn’t return” by her family, as her birthday fell so close to the holiday.

To her friends, she was known as Ginni, and spent her entire life in Western Pennsylvania, growing up in Zelienople and pursuing her education at Finley College, where she became a member of Delta Zeta sorority. Eventually, she and her husband settled in Portersville, where they made a home for many years. After her family spread to Colorado, she and Dick embarked on frequent road trips to spend quality time with their children and grandchildren. These journeys underscored her dedication to building meaningful connections.

She was a remarkable wife, mother and grandmother “Mimi,” pouring boundless love, wisdom, companionship, solace and support into the lives of all fortunate enough to be in her circle.

Virginia’s life was one of service and dedication, including her work as a home décor and antiques dealer.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was both palpable and unwavering, touching the hearts of countless others. She will be remembered for numerous volunteer roles at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville, where she was a member and touched many lives. Her legacy of service will continue to inspire us all.

Family gatherings at her Portersville home, especially Christmas parties, were a source of pride for her, exemplifying her commitment to both family and community.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard D. Bauder; her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Heather (Craig) Neugeboren and Carolyn (Dan) Crouse; seven adoring grandchildren, Jake, Cole, Caroline, Clay (Crouse), Lauren, Nathan and Morgan (Neugeboren); and her brother, David Kennedy.

BAUDER — There will be a celebration of life for Virginia Bauder, who died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville, 1297 Perry Highway, Portersville, with her pastor, the Rev. Dana Opp, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kitchen Fund at the Presbyterian Church. This is where she volunteered for years with her sister-in-law, Liz Bauder.

Cremation services were entrusted to RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 387 Main St., Prospect.
