Robert William White
Robert William White, 77, of Clarington passed away Tuesday at his home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. White was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Dixonville, a son of the late William James and Rachael Millicent Claypool White.
Robert married Patricia Scott Dec 6, 2001. She survives him. Robert and Patricia were a devoted couple. Patricia selflessly remained by his side, comforting him throughout his illness.
Robert was quite an active man, both in his community and personal life. Active in the community, Robert was a member of Presbyterian Church in Brookville. He was also an accomplished woodworker and built the White Havens Campground in 1995.
In his personal life, Robert cherished spending time with his family and boasted 12 grandchildren who he loved dearly. He also enjoyed the outdoors, and especially liked hunting, fishing and traveling on his boat, “Pappy's Pride.”
As an accomplished woodworker, Robert was a general contractor for a number of years. He also worked in Butler at the Pullman Standard Car Works for 27 years.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia; two sons, Robert White Jr. of Elderton and Frederick White and his wife, Sherry, of Worthington; four daughters, Donna Pistorius and her husband, Joseph, of Petrolia, Anne Glaven and her husband, Michael Hardy, of Rhode Island, Deborah Favreau and her husband, Scott, of Wrentham, Mass., and Laura Williams and her husband, Michael, also of Wrentaham, Mass.; two brothers, Mervin White and his wife, Cindy, of North Jackson, Ohio, and Kermit White of Louisville, Ky.; and two sisters, Gale Bowser and her husband, Richard, of Slate Lick and Phyllis Cousins of Fredericksburg, Va.
Robert is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Robert John, Samantha, Joseph, Charee, Elizabeth, Scott, Hannah, Abigail, Kathryn, Caroline and Christian.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” James White.
