Meade E. Shannon

Meade E. Shannon, 96, of 926 Evans City Road, Renfrew, died at 2 p.m. Thursday at his home.

Born in Connoquenessing Township on July 10, 1908, he was a son of Frank and Rose Anderson Shannon.

Mr. Shannon was manager and appraiser at the Butler County Ford Motor Co., retiring in 1969.

He also owned and operated Shannon's Apple Orchard since 1953 to the present with a stand on Evans City Road.

Mr. Shannon was a member of the White Oak Spring Presbyterian Church, where he was a choir member, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, elder, deacon and trustee.

He also worked in the Pullman Standard Shell Shop during World War II.

Mr. Shannon was a member of the United Commercial Travelers, the National Rifle Association and the American Fruit Growers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Walker Shannon, who he married on Sept. 12, 1940; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Carol Ann) Orsborn of Renfrew; and two grandchildren, Mrs. James (Kimberly) Alfonsi of Livonia, Mich., and Jeffery M. and his wife, Elizabeth, Orsborn.

Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Joseph Orsborn, Daniel Orsborn and Julia Alfonsi; two brothers, William Shannon of Butler and Frank Shannon of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Annabele McGinley.

SHANNON - Friends of Meade E. Shannon, who died Thursday, March 31, 2005, will be received from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME,124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Butler, the Rev. Dennis Molnar, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Butler County, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.
