Helen A. Javens
Helen A. Javens, 90, of Butler, originally of McKeesport, died Sunday at Shelbourne Assisted Living.
Born Nov. 11, 1919, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Casimir and Anna (Ornoski) Borkowski.
Helen was a homemaker. During World War II, she worked at the National Tube mill in McKeesport.
She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She was a former member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in McKeesport.
Her husband, Charles E. Javens Jr., who she married Oct. 13, 1939, preceded her in death in 1989.
Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a very kind, loving and generous woman. Those whose lives she touched considered themselves fortunate to have known her.
She was an avid gardener, and her flowers brought much joy and beauty to her family, friends and neighbors. Her front porch and yard will long be remembered in her McKeesport neighborhood for the beautiful hanging baskets and flowers she tended there.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Michael (Charlotte) Vargo; a grandson, Gregory (Lynette) Vargo; three granddaughters, Mrs. Scott (Lorraine) Vogus, Mrs. William (Melanie) Fuellgraf and Mrs. John (Linda) Chamberlain; eight great-grandchildren, Nicole, Douglas, and Jillian Vogus, Alexander, Victoria and Catherine Fuellgraf and John and Hanna Chamberlain; and three step-great-grandchildren, Joshua, Justin and Gregory Fecich, all of Butler.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles E. Javens III; and her brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Anthony, Edward and Mathew Borkowski.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caretakers at Shelbourne Assisted Living for the loving and compassionate care Helen received while she lived there.
<B>JAVENS</B> - Friends of Helen A. Javens, who died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
