Grace M. Dunn Ward, 106, died March 6 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge, Erie.

She was born March 6, 1903, in Mount Chestnut to the late Everette and Della Sarver Dunn.

Grace was a registered nurse, receiving her degree from the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in 1924. While there, she met Dr. Donald S. Ward M.D., whom she married March 30, 1925.

Grace was a homemaker, artist, poet and an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates for over 80 years. The Pirates knew of her as a fan and honored her on her 100th birthday.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald S. Ward Sr. M.D., in 1951; also by her son, Donald S. Ward Jr., in 2001; two brothers, Eugene and Bruce Dunn; two sisters, Edna Brandon and Gladys Stephenson; and her grandson, Donald Palmer.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Palmer of Lake City; a daughter-in-law, Jimmie Ward of Galveston, Texas; a sister, Lois Kuharic of Butler; four grandchildren, Ted Palmer, Bonnie Desko, Cynthia Lee and her husband, Donald, and Sherry Ward; a step-granddaughter, Laurie Strandwitz and her husband, Norman; nine great-grandchildren, Justin Desko, B. Roth Desko, Nicholas Strandwitz, Tiffany Kosmatine and her husband Branden, Kyle Palmer, Ryan Nolan, Emily Lee and Laura Lee; two great-great-granddaughters, Kadence Kosmatine and Riley Nolan; and several nieces and nephews in the Butler area.

<B>WARD</B> — There will be no calling hours or services observed for Grace M. Dunn Ward, who died Friday, March 6, 2009. Burial will be private at Allegheny County Memorial Gardens in Pittsburgh.Memorials may be made to the Caring Place, 510 Cranberry St., Erie, PA 16507; and the Erie City Mission, 1213 State St., Erie, PA 16509.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of <B>Daniel R.
