Ernest H. Davis
Ernest H. Davis, 87, of Renfrew, formerly of Fayette City, passed away Monday at Concordia of Cranberry Township.
Born on Feb. 23, 1927, in Fayette City, he was the son of the late John B. and Ethel Mae Harper Davis.
Ernie was a faithful member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Evans City.
After proudly serving our country during World War II in the U.S. Army, he worked as a crew dispatcher for P&LE Railroad for 40 years until his retirement.
In his youth, Ernie played baseball and became a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed woodworking, photography and creating art. Ernie will be dearly missed.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Gerald R. Davis and his girlfriend, Chris Malis, of Meridian; his daughter, Carol D. Sockman and her husband, Erik, of Apex, N.C., and his five granddaughters, Christen, Victoria, Amanda, Rachel, and Kaela.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Shirley B. Davis, who passed away on Dec. 28, 2013; his brother, Curtis Richard Davis, and his two sisters, Gladys L. DeMoss and Sarah Davis.
Davis — The Davis family will receive friends of Ernest H. Davis, who passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral ceremony with military honors at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 116 E. Main St., Evans City, with the Rev. Dr. Verna Call officiating. Ernie will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.In lieu of flowers, the Davis family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Ernie's honor to the St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E.
