Seneca seniors named semifinalists
Three Seneca Valley High School seniors were recently named semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship program.
Lucas Boyle, Alexander Kim and Shivani Umesh will have the opportunity to continue in the competition, which culminates in $28 million in scholarships that are distributed among the 7,140 winners.
One finalist among those nationwide will be named Merit Scholar.
“These young learners have been tireless in their dedication to challenge themselves and rise to this level of accomplishment,” said Bob Ceh, Seneca Valley Senior High principal. “We are proud of them and look forward to their continued contribution to Seneca Valley and to the world beyond our walls.”
Two other Seneca seniors, Lydia Miller and Lihini Ranaweera, were named Commended Students in the program as well.
The pair were recognized due to their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used to enter the program.
