James Hannon

Hannon

James J. “Jim” Hannon, 60, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at his home.

Born Feb. 9, 1963, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Thomas L. and the late Eleanor Jean (Jeffries) Hannon.

Jim was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and went on to attend Penn State Harrisburg, where he received his degree in electrical engineering. He was a professional engineer and was most recently employed as a senior project manager with Allen + Shariff. Jim had a robust passion for hockey, which started at a very young age. He began playing with his brothers and continued his love for the game by watching it regularly. Jim enjoyed listening to music, hunting, fishing and going out and seeing his many friends. He was also a real “foodie” and relished in cooking and barbecuing at his home. More than anything, Jim loved his family. He especially enjoyed attending and coaching his children’s sporting events and spending time at camp with them, along with his dog, Murphy.

Jim is survived by his wife, Rosanne “Rox” (Straub) Hannon, whom he married on May 26, 1990; his daughter, Rachel Hannon and her fiancé, Thomas Gaurrich; his son, Ryan (Rachel) Hannon; his grandson, Cameron; three brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Hannon, Edward (Kristi) Hannon and Jeffrey (Dawn) Hannon; his brothers-in-law, Francis (Cheryl) Straub and Patrick (Susy) Straub; his sister-in-law, Paula (Louis) Chiappelli; numerous nieces and nephews; and his lifelong best friend, Thom Hoburg.

HANNON — Per his wishes, there will be no public visitation or services for James J. “Jim” Hannon, who died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, Jim would ask that you kindly donate to your local Humane Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
