Joanne B. Sergeant, 83, of Butler, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday morning, Oct. 11, 2023, at Concordia at the Orchard.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Joanne was a daughter of the late John and Lucille Cain Rudavsky.

Her church life was very important to her. She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church for more than 30 years and for the past several years attended All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, where she shared her beautiful voice in the church choir.

Joanne was employed for more than 18 years as an administrative assistant in the office of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Church. She also served as a Eucharistic minister and lector at St. Paul and sang in the St. Paul Choir. In addition, she sang with the Blazing Star Choral Society and belonged to the Butler Outdoor Club, which she loved.

Joanne is survived by one sister, Sharon Ryan, of Texas; two nieces, Barbara Polahar and Monica Phillips; two nephews, Joseph Kolesar and Anthony Phillips; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and wonderful, caring friends who had become family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. “Sarge” Sergeant, who passed away Oct. 14, 2001; one sister, Mary Lou Rudavsky Phillips; and one brother, John Michael Rudavsky.

SERGEANT — There will be no visitation for Joanne B. Sergeant, who died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 146 N. Monroe St., Butler, PA 16001, or to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
