E. Waneata Porter Van Kirk Rowlands

E. Waneata Porter Van Kirk Rowlands, 71, of Portersville, Muddy Creek Township, passed away Wednesday at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness.

Born Jan. 7, 1939, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of Virginia Moore Porter of Portersville and the late Ralph J. Porter, who passed away on May 24, 2010.

She was married to the late Richard Van Kirk, who passed away in 1996, and Melvin Rowlands who passed away in 2006.

Waneata was a member of the Portersville Bible Church.

She sang with the Gospel Joy Belles and was a member of the Riverside Lions Club.

She was employed for 40 years by First Federal Savings and Loan in New Castle and worked part time at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, Ralph J. (Leona) Porter Jr. of Portersville; two daughters, Tammy (Gerald) Sharon of California and LaDawn Van Kirk of Portersville. She also is survived by three grandchildren, Chris, Brian and Jordon Sharon; and a nephew, Jason Porter.

<B>ROWLANDS</B> — Visiting hours for E. Waneata Porter Van Kirk Rowlands, who died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Marshall Funeral Home</B>, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. Mike Charles, and her son-in-law, the Rev. Gerald Sharon, officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Portersville Bible Church.Online condolences may be sent to marshallsfh.com.
