Girl recovers at home after being struck by vehicle in Slippery Rock earlier this week
The 11-year-old girl, who was struck by a vehicle at a Slippery Rock bus stop earlier this week, is now recovering at home, according to Slippery Rock police.
The Slippery Rock Area Middle School student was struck Tuesday morning, Oct. 17, by an eastbound vehicle near the intersection of Vincent Road and Franklin Street when she was crossing the street to get on the bus, according to Slippery Rock Police Department Chief Terry A. Fedokovitz in a Friday update.
The girl has been at home since Thursday, he said. Her statement will be taken into account in the ongoing investigation, he added.
At the time of the crash, the bus had its stop sign out and its lights on, but the 20-year-old male Slippery Rock University student driving the vehicle did not see the lights, Fedokovitz said.
According to Fedokovitz, charges will be filed against the driver soon.
The girl was taken by ambulance to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh after the crash, according to dispatchers Tuesday.
Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Rescue Team and its ambulance also responded to the scene.
