Harriett D. Bair of Zelienople peacefully passed away Monday. She was 87.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., to Kenneth and Ora Donaldson, Harriett was raised on a family farm in West Falls, N.Y., following the death of her mother at a young age.

She recently traveled back to the farm in West Falls for a family reunion where she shared many fond memories and laughs.

She graduated from East Aurora High School in East Aurora, N.Y., where she met her future husband of 52 years, Byron B. Bair.

Harriett was a 1954 graduate of Syracuse University.

Once married, Harriett and Byron moved to Hardin, Mont., where she gave birth to the first of three daughters. The couple returned to Western New York in 1958, where they raised their family.

In 1995, Harriett and Byron retired to Jackson Township.

Harriett was an accomplished pianist. She also played the organ. She served as a piano and organ teacher for over 50 years, mentoring a few piano students well into her 80s.

Harriett had a passion for miniatures and collectibles throughout her life, amassing an elaborate museum-quality dollhouse collection she created herself with the help of miniature artisans.

Family and friends will remember Harriett for her quick wit and ageless sense of humor, as well as her curious intellect.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Bair Peters of Pittsburgh, Gayle Bair (Tom) Snee of Pittsburgh, and Jenna (Brian) Palka of Clarence Center, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Tyler Bair (Kerry) Peters, Jolie Bair (Bobby) Valentine, Jamie Palka, Maggie Palka, Nora Palka and Neyuama Porter-Bair; three great-grandchildren, Rory Peters, Colin Peters and Ace Bair; two first cousins, Richard Reading and Nancy Vigykan, with whom she was raised; and her beloved dog and constant companion, Trixie.

BAIR — Friends of Harriett D. Bair, who died Monday, July 9, 2018, will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
