August A. Guzzie
August A. Guzzie, 91, of Middlesex Township died Sunday under the care of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Butler.
Born March 6, 1917, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Carman and Thres (Panza) Guzzie.
August served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
In addition to spending time with his beloved family, he loved to play golf and take long drives in the car.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy H. (Kober) Guzzie, who died in 1982. He also was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
He was the loving father of August A. (Liz) Guzzie Jr. of Middlesex; dear grandfather of Tina, Tony and Melissa; and great-grandfather of Heather, Kelly, Hillary, Lynzie and Alyssa. Also surviving is one great-great-grandchild, Erin.
<B>GUZZIE</B> — The family of August A. Guzzie, who died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home, </B>5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Father Albert Semler as celebrant.The family suggests donations to the VA Medical Center of Butler, 325 New Castle Road, Butler, PA 16001.Interment with military honors will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Sharps Hill.Please add and view tributes at www.schellhaasfh.com.
