Edna Alice Hesselgesser Hogg Henry, 98, of Grove City died at 2:35 a.m. Sunday at the Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City.

Born in Leisurville, Nov. 6, 1911, she was the daughter of Charles Wesley Hesselgesser and Auda Floss Johnston Hesselgesser.

She married Henry Raymond Hogg on July 15, 1930. He died May 5, 1960. She then married Troy M. Henry on Aug. 21, 1970, and he died Sept. 26, 1992.

She was the oldest living member of the Branchton United Methodist Church, where she played the organ and the piano.

She was the postmistress in Branchton for 36 years.

She enjoyed music and community service and was a volunteer at the Grove City Medical Center. Even though she was legally blind, she played the organ for patients in the transitional care unit.

Surviving are a daughter, Ardis L. (Henry Sr.) Knight of Mercer; four sisters, Ethel Dollman of Slippery Rock, Ila Margaret Walton of Volant, Jean Kuhn of Meadville, and Ruth Cooper and her husband, Glenn, of Slippery Rock; and a brother, Robert and his wife, Elaine Hesselgesser of Slippery Rock. Also surviving are a grandson, Scott Pridemore and his wife, Toni, of Slippery Rock; a step-granddaughter, Terrie Cooper and her husband, David, of Grove City; a step-grandson, Henry Knight Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Grove City; five great-granddaughters, Cassandra Pridemore Rennick and her twin sister, Christin Pridemore, Jessica Pridemore, Alexandria Pridemore and Danielle Bernard; a great-grandson, Matthew Mateer; and nine great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Hogg; two brothers, Dwight and Charles Hesselgesser; and a granddaughter, Sherry Mateer.

<B>HENRY</B> — Visitation for Edna Alice Hesselgesser Hogg Henry, who died Sunday, May 2, 2010, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Lewis, pastor of the Branchton United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Slippery Rock Cemetery, Slippery Rock Township.Memorial contributions may be given to the Branchton United Methodist Church or the Grove City Medical Center for use by the volunteers.
