Kimmel

Richard B.D. Kimmel, 87, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, while under the care of Twinbrook Healthcare and Nursing Center.

Born April 30, 1936, in Canton, Ohio, he was the eldest son of the late Richard Kimmel and Olive Irene Justice Kimmel.

Richard was employed as a railroad conductor then later as an engineer for 42 years. The railroad was one of his lifelong passions. He was an endowed member of the F&AM at the Park Masonic Lodge 36 in Tallmadge, Ohio. He was a lifelong member of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC. He enjoyed traveling and visited all the Lower 48 states. Richard had a keen interest in extraterrestrial life and visited the infamous Area 51, and he had also been a beekeeper.

KIMMEL — Friends of Richard B.D. Kimmel, who died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the celebration of life service at noon Monday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.

Richard will be laid to rest at the Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.
